Mike Tomolonius is a landscape photographer who lives in Dover, NH. He is a self-taught photographer. Mike is inspired by the landscape photographer Eliot Porter. Mr. Porter’s colorful, detailed, intimate landscapes have been a lifelong template for Mike. A recently retired trucker, Mike now has the time to pursue his photography.
“It’s about honing my ability to observe the world around me; to see. There is beauty in everyday things that might be considered ordinary or mundane: A weathered picket fence, an abandoned car overgrown with vines, a trailer piled high with lobster traps. If I can capture these images and put them within a frame then they have a voice, they exist with us, and we share the same world. It’s an exploration of the outdoors. I prefer the pop, shapes, and patterns of color photography. If I’m out and about with my camera and I see something colorful off in the distance I’ll head right over there. It’s a love of color”.
